Wanted

With a cast like Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman I had very high hopes for this movie. Add in critically acclaimed director Timur Bekmambetov and it seemed like a sure thing. And it was a sure thing...to a point.

The direction was indeed stunning. From the beginning where the assassin jumps through the window and kills 3 of his would be killers right through to the end the direction and action was engaging and a visual feast. Angelina Jolie's character was somewhat flat I thought. Not a very challenging part for her. Morgan Freeman was the usual Morgan Freeman type. James McAvoy played a very good starring role and turned out to be a somewhat complex character. Overall I enjoyed the acting and the character development.

But, the premise of the movie which is meant to explain why this group exists and how they choose their victims really pushed me into the beyond. What is even more incredible is that this underlying motivation for this group was presented as something so plausible when it is so ridiculous.

I really did enjoy the movie but as time wears on it is fading from memory much quicker than I thought it would.
